Biography

My full name is John Clinton Winchell. I was born on Feb.11, 1970 in Dalton, Georgia. I lived there and then just outside Atlanta for a few years until my family moved to Tallahassee, Florida. I grew up in a unique household; my dad was a former Kodak chemist turned musician attending Florida State University for a doctorate in the subject. Having already received a Master's in Composition from F.S.U., he eventually earned this degree at age 45. My mom, also a Florida State alumnus, has a Master's in Music and plays piano, organ and harpsichord. They have both taught piano, with my dad teaching private voice, composition and music theory, as well.

Continuing with the musical theme, my parents have worked together as church musicians for thirty-odd years. These right-brain genes dominate the entire family. My younger sister Kate is a starving artist in Ithaca, NY. My youngest sister, Elizabeth, is an aspiring writer. Anyway, after living in Tallahassee for seven years, we relocated to Winter Park, FL., staying there three years through my sophomore year in high school. In September of 1986 I found myself in a completely different environment: Cape Cod, Massachusetts. I initially lived there permanently for about seven years and have since migrated back and forth numerous times for the last 12 years.

I recently returned from a cross-country road trip and now do freelance web/print design consulting for a growing local clientele.
